Joan Alupo is a communications practitioner with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University and a master’s degree in Corporate Communication and Reputation Management from the University of Manchester.

She is a current Global Health Corps Fellow 2014/ 2015 working as a Knowledge Management, Communications and External Relations Officer with Jhpiego Uganda.

Previously she worked with Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT) as an Information Officer where she worked on fundraising events, community engagement and sustainable livelihood projects.

She volunteered with Shelters for Women & Children (SWC) a start up NGO dedicated to helping women and children who are victims of domestic abuse helping with proposal writing and communications.

She has also volunteered with the AIDS Information Centre (AIC) in their Public Relations and Advocacy Department and Youth Corner helping to develop IEC materials targeting teenagers and young adults (15-24) on issues of reproductive health and HIV & AIDS.

Joan has a keen interest on women’s heath &rights and international development. This passion has been greatly inspired by her father’s work in community development.
